Pattaya Weather & the Best Time to Move

Pattaya's hot, rainy and cooler seasons explained — what the climate is really like year-round, and the best time of year to arrive and settle in.

The climate is one of Pattaya’s biggest draws — and a real adjustment. Knowing the rhythm of the seasons helps you plan both your visit and your move.

The three rough seasons

  • Cooler & drier (around Nov–Feb): the most comfortable stretch, and peak season. Pleasant days, lower humidity.
  • Hot season (around Mar–May): genuinely hot and humid — the real test of whether the tropics suit you.
  • Rainy season (around Jun–Oct): heavy but often short downpours rather than all-day rain, with warm temperatures throughout.

Honest climate expectations

This is a tropical climate: warm to hot every month, with real humidity. Some people bloom in it; others find the relentless heat wearing. The only way to know which you are is to experience more than the pleasant cool season — ideally visit in the heat too.

Best time to arrive

For the settling-in admin — house-hunting, banking, visa errands — the cooler season is far more pleasant to be running around in. But there’s a case for visiting in the hot and wet months first, so you commit with a true picture of the climate, not just the postcard version.

A note on health and heat

If you have heart, blood-pressure or breathing conditions, factor the heat into your plans and talk to your doctor — and ease into outdoor activity, especially at first. See staying active.

The bottom line

Expect warmth year-round, a comfortable cool season, and short sharp rains rather than endless grey. Arrive in the cooler months to settle in comfortably — but be honest with yourself about the heat before you commit.
